New Market Manager
It is with some sadness that we say goodbye to our market manager, George Bruce, who leaves the market this month (February). George has been with the market for three years, and his decision to leave was a hard one, but necessary to allow him to fulfil other commitments. George’s interest and enthusiasm has enabled Cullompton Farmers’ Market to improve significantly, and for it to be voted the Best Farmers’ Market in Devon for two years running, and to be in the finals again last year.
George told us, “I have thoroughly enjoyed working with all the stallholders present and past and alongside the committee. My thanks to all of you who have made it an enjoyable time.”
George will be handing over the reins to William Gillings, who lives in Cullompton and has been very involved in the town.
The market committee would like to extend a huge thank-you to George for his work at the market for his time as manager, and wish him the best in his future commitments.
Market producer featured on BBC’s Countryfile Programme
One of the market’s producers has recently been seen on television. The Countryfile programme broadcast on Sunday 5th February featured the Blackdown Hills, and some of the produce available in the area. Donna Lucking of Ellises Farm, our regular pork producer, was shown making some of her wonderful chorizo sausages. If you missed it, the programme is available for a limited time on the BBC iPlayer. Visit the Countryfile page at http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006t0bv to see full details.
Happy New Year – January 2012
We would like to wish all of our customers and producers a very happy new year. We are looking forward to the year ahead and what it may bring to the market. See our Calendar page for details on what is happening each month.
