Dirty Old Goat Soaps are handmade on our farm in Uffculme, Devon, using raw milk from Myrtle, who is hand milked every day the old fashioned way by Tracy, general dogsbody to the herd.
Our soaps contain olive oil, grapeseed oil, coconut oil and essential oils. All recipes have been tested and authorised by a cosmetic chemist and comply with the EU Cosmetics Directive. None of the recipes have been tested on animals, just on Tracy’s husband, who despite this still looks in pretty good nick.
Why buy goat’s milk soap?
We all know that you can buy a cheap bar of soap at the supermarket, you may therefore ask yourself what difference is there between that and handmade goat’s milk soap?
Well, the answer is that mass produced bars contain synthetic additives which act as a detergent. This will damage your skin’s protective layer and remove protein causing dryness and irritation.
Myrtle’s milk contains alpha hydroxy acids such as lactic acid. These help remove dead cells from the skin’s surface leaving new cells and smoother skin. It also contains many vitamins and is high in vitamin A. This helps repair damaged skin tissue and maintains healthy skin. What’s more, goat’s milk has a high fat content with smaller fat molecules. This helps it to be easily absorbed and moisturise the skin.
Goat’s milk soap is known for its soothing qualities. It is particularly good for sensitive and dry skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis.
